The Walk-On’s Independence Bowl is set to host the second installment of the Raising Cane’s Kid Combine this weekend at Wheels in the Hills in Betty Virginia Park.

Raising Cane’s Kid Combine, an event in its second year, features two installments where kids ages five through 13 compete in the 40-yard dash, shuttle, agility ladder, tackling bags, throwing accuracy and catching competitions. The Walk-On’s Independence Bowl has partnered with D1 Training this year to help host the events, with the second leg set for this Friday and Saturday, September 7-8. The event will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday and 8-11 a.m. on Saturday. The winners from the Wheels in the Hills leg will join the winner’s from March’s Crawfest leg to compete on the Independence Stadium field at the 2018 Walk-On’s Independence Bowl.

The third-annual Wheels in the Hills is an event that allows kids to experience trucks, tractors and other equipment that they would see in children’s books, while also helping underprivileged students. The event, which is held at Betty Virginia Park, is free to attend and designed for young families. Wheels in the Hills has had an average attendance of about 2,000 people over the last three years.

Wheels in the Hills is from 5-9 p.m. on Friday and 8-11 a.m. on Saturday, and there will also be an Anti-Bullying Wing Cook-Off at Betty Virginia Park from 5-8 p.m. on Friday. Money raised from the cook-off will be used towards hands-on anti-bullying training and information for local students, teachers and parents.
