Shreveport, La. – Legendary College Football Hall of Fame coach Bobby Bowden will be the featured speaker at the second annual AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl Kickoff Luncheon on Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 11:45 a.m. at the Shreveport Convention Center. Bowden is the second-winningest coach in major college football history and retired as head coach at Florida State University in 2009. He guided the Seminoles to over 300 victories, two national championships, and 12 Atlantic Coast Conference titles in his 34 seasons in Tallahassee.

Florida State finished in the top 5 in the country and won at least 10 games 14-straight seasons (1987-2000) and appeared in a bowl game 28 straight times (1982-2009) during his 34-year tenure. Bowden was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2006. He is heavily involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) as the organization presents “The National Bobby Bowden Award” to a student-athlete for achievement on and off the field, including his conduct as a faith model in the community.
The AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl is rolling out a special ticket offer. Fans can purchase an individual ticket to the Kickoff Luncheon and a ticket to the bowl’s fourth-annual Trivia Night on Friday, Aug. 20 for just $70. Tables of eight are available for $360 and anyone who purchases a table will receive recognition in the event program.
