2017 Independence Bowl Slated for December 27
The 2017 Independence Bowl is scheduled to kick off on Wednesday, December 27 at 12:30 p.m. CT at Independence Stadium.
The 42nd playing of the Independence Bowl will be televised on ESPN, marking the 27th-consecutive year an ESPN network will televise the event. ESPN first televised the 1992 Independence Bowl between Oregon and Wake Forest.
The Independence Bowl features primary conference agreements with the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Southeastern Conference, and has secondary agreements with the American Athletic Conference and Conference USA.
The 2016 Independence Bowl featured the NC State Wolfpack taking down the Vanderbilt Commodores, 41-17, in both teams’ first appearance in Shreveport-Bossier City’s annual postseason contest.

Next Independence Bowl Foundation Event:
The 7th-annual Youth Football Clinic is set for June 10 at Independence Stadium. The clinic is free and open to all children ages 5 through incoming 8th graders. Participants will receive instruction from college coaches from around the region, including Grambling State, Sam Houston State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Louisiana College, with additional coaches expected to join.
